# Install and use the Room Through Time skill

Use this skill with an AI coding agent to build your own room across eras, or to adapt The Room Remembers. The skill holds instructions and references; the recipes and models are separate downloads on the exploration page.

## 1. Install Scenario's skills

With Node.js and npm available, run this in your project directory:

```sh
npx skills add scenario-labs/skills --skill "*"
```

Select your agent and installation scope when prompted. The collection includes the core `scenario` skill and the skills this workflow uses: `scenario-image`, `scenario-consistency`, `scenario-3d`, `scenario-textures`, `scenario-skyboxes`, `scenario-audio`, `scenario-seedance` and `scenario-video-assembly`. To add one that is missing, run `npx skills add scenario-labs/skills --skill <name>`. If your agent finds a named skill missing, it should ask you to install it, or, when running unattended, work from the live tool schemas and say which skill was missing. See the [official installation instructions](https://github.com/scenario-labs/skills#install) for supported agents and updates.

## 2. Connect Scenario MCP

Add `https://mcp.scenario.com/mcp` as a Streamable HTTP MCP server in your agent and sign in with your Scenario account through OAuth. Skills provide guidance; the MCP connection provides the generation tools. The install command above does not configure it.

Follow the [Scenario connection guide](https://mcp.scenario.com/docs?referral=experiments-the-room-remembers&utm_source=scenario.com&utm_medium=experiment&utm_campaign=the-room-remembers&utm_content=agent-skill) for your client. Ask your agent to use the `scenario` skill and list your teams to check access without generating anything. Choose your own project and agree on a generation budget before creating assets. Never paste credentials into a prompt.

## 3. Install this skill

Extract the skill ZIP. From your project directory, run the command below with the actual extraction path:

```sh
npx skills add /path/to/extracted/scenario-room-through-time
```

Or copy the whole folder into your agent's skill directory, keeping `SKILL.md`, `references/` and `agents/` together. Ask your agent to confirm it can see `scenario-room-through-time`; restart the session if needed.

## 4. Start

For a new room:

> Use $scenario-room-through-time to plan a Paris apartment seen in 1890, 1960 and 2040. Check my Scenario tools, ask for my project and budget, and show me the room spec, the eras and the furniture list per era before generating anything.

To adapt The Room Remembers:

> Use $scenario-room-through-time with the extracted The Room Remembers recipe ZIP at [my folder]. Explain how the 1750 collection was made and propose a seventh era, 1850. Do not generate yet.

In clients without `$` invocation, ask the agent to use the skill by name.

## What you need for each task

Individual GLBs download from each object's inspector in the [live room](https://www.scenario.com/explorations/the-room-remembers/). The recipes do not include media, Blender files or the website source.

Historical job and asset ids document the original work and need access to its private project to replay. For new work, use your own project and discover current models rather than assuming the historical ones are the best available.
