SCENARIO / EXPLORATIONS
A felt old otter floats on his back at sunset, a tiny honey-coloured pup asleep on his belly, his paw resting on it

A WORDLESS SHORT · A SCENARIO EXPLORATION

Hold On.

An old otter who sleeps alone.
A pup lost in a storm. A paw to hold.

NEEDLE-FELTED STOP-MOTION · 2:08 · NO DIALOGUE01 / WATCH

01 / THE FILM

Nobody holds his paw.
Until tonight.

Sea otters hold paws while they sleep, so they don't drift apart. This one ties himself to the kelp instead, until a storm brings him a pup.

02 / HOW IT WAS MADE

Made to feel.
Built to hold together.

One agent, Claude Opus 5.5, made the whole film through the Scenario MCP: the puppets, every frame, the motion, the score and the sound. Blender only guided the camera.

THE TWO-MINUTE VERSION

Nine steps, narrated.

The brief, the puppets, the cove, the fix, the key frames, the motion, the sound and the receipt, with every image taken from the real production.

  1. Style frame: felt otter pairs holding paws on a resin sea at dusk, a paper-lantern moon, knitted kelp
    01 / A LOOK THAT RESISTS SLOP

    Wool forgives. Twos steady.

Needle-felted puppets on a handmade miniature set read as craft, so small imperfections feel intentional. Every image is held for two frames, like real stop-motion, so motion never smears.

  2. Reference sheet of the old otter: chestnut felt, cream-grey muzzle, bushy grey eyebrows Reference sheet of the pup: fluffy honey-caramel felt with a tuft on its head Reference sheet of the mother otter: sleek dark chocolate felt, cream face
    02 / THREE PUPPETS

Every frame starts from a sheet.

GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst drew a turnaround and four expressions for the old otter, the pup and the mother. Each later key frame passes these sheets as references, so the characters stay on model across 25 shots.

03 / FROM LAYOUT TO FELT

Blender plans the shot.
Felt fills it in.

A colour-coded Blender cove fixed the geography: kelp on the left, the arch far right, the moon high above. Each proxy colour names a character or material for the image model.

Final key frame: felt otters holding paws in a cove at dusk beneath a natural rock arch
Blender layout: violet otter proxies, grey lumpy cliffs, a brown arch and a pale moon disc

THE FIX

The rocks came out square.

The first repaints copied Blender's boxes too faithfully. The cliffs and arch were rebuilt as lumpy shapes, the guides rendered again, and the cove turned soft.

First repaint with rectangular rocks copied from box-shaped placeholders
First pass: box guides, square rocks
Final repaint with irregular cork rocks and a natural arch
After the fix: lumpy guides, soft cork rocks

04 / FIRST AND LAST FRAMES

Two moments.
One gesture.

Every acted beat got a first and a last frame from the same camera, made by editing the first. Seedance 2.5 then animated between them in 1080p, so each shot ends exactly where the story needs it.

First frame: the old otter looks lonely at the couplesLast frame: he holds a white pebble to his chest, eyes closed
THE PEBBLEA memory, held close.
First frame: the pup raises a clam over its faceLast frame: the pup rubs its nose while the old otter laughs
THE BONKA lesson that lands on the nose.
First frame: the old otter's paw hovers over the sleeping pupLast frame: his paw rests gently on the pup
THE PAWThe moment he lets himself care.
Ten frames of the pull-back shot, from three otters holding paws to the whole chain
CHECKED FRAME BY FRAMEEvery clip was scanned for melting faces, extra paws and props that appear from nowhere, then stepped on twos. Here: the pull-back, first to last frame.

05 / THE SOUND

No words. A score that knows the cuts.

ElevenLabs Music Advanced v2.5 composed eleven sections timed to the edit: felt piano and cello, a horn when the paws join. ElevenLabs Sound Effects 2 made the rain, the shell taps and the squeaks. Mixed to -16 LUFS.

06 / MAKE YOUR OWN

Take the recipe.
